I have to admit to not being in a very good
place at the moment, it is not a dark place but one that jumping for joy is not
a popular activity. The reason, well
lets just say I have learnt a very hard lesson yesterday? A lesson I will never forget that is for sure.
I spent much of yesterday thinking about it
and possibly gave it to much time but that’s me. As a result of over thinking I got very
frustrated when applying the second coat of paint to the bathroom and missed a
few areas. The good news painting wise
is that the second coat has taken very well even if it did not look like it at
the time. Lunchtime saw me catch up with
a fellow photographer and we chewed over the fat and reviewed a few photography
books. Oh and had a few pints of beer to assist in the debate and in my case
numb the nagging thoughts. It worked for
a short while but clearly the lack of sleep and the fact that I started this
post in the early hours of Thursday morning meant they got the better of me. I finally got to bed just as my partner was
getting up for work at 5:30am.
I did not sleep very long as I had to post
some more items that I have sold. Even
though the site I use gives delivery times of 7 to 10 working days I like to
dispatch an order as soon as I can, the same day if possible. Another piece of camera gear went today plus
a Top Gear DVD collection set. The
camera gear sold within an hour of putting it on Ebay. I had to use Ebay as you can only list very
specific things on Amazon and what I had to sell did not fit anything they had
in their inventory. The camera gear
might have sold in an hour but it took me 4 hours to get it listed. I set up the Ebay account a few years ago but
I never used it. Remembering the login
details was hard enough but then dealing with all the prompts to update this
and that and respond to security checks very text messaging. Sadly the phone number listed is no longer in
use and to change it required a lengthy conversation with a very nice lady in
America as it turned out. Thankfully the
phone call was via a 0800 number so the costs will not be huge. I cannot believe how much Ebay has changed
since I last looked at it; it is a lot slicker than I remembered.
Whilst all this was going on I reconfigured
my disc storage, again, to make use of some updates that were applied. It is nice to be able to do so without having
to backup or move data around. Not
exactly exciting but when one cannot sleep one has to do something.
Like a numpty I forgot to shut the window
and as it got darker the bugs started to come in and play with the lights. I did not notice until one hit me in the
face, it was a big bugger too. When I
woke up later this morning the curtains and walls were covered in butterflies,
moths and little green fly like critters with see through wings. Most escaped out into the hot morning when
all the windows and doors were opened and I only found one that had curled up
its wings and met its maker.
I also got news that there are going to be
two more viewings over the next couple of days so things are picking up a pace
on the flat front too. With everything
going on I almost forgot that the flat was on the market.
I had a very pleasant surprise too when an
old work colleague of mine asked for a print of one of my photographs. It always makes me feel proud and happy when
I am asked for a copy of my work and it was very timely too. It turns out that the church in the
background of the photograph is where their mum rests in peace. It is always a pleasure to provide a print
but when there is such a lovely and warming story behind the request it becomes
an honour. This is the photograph.
This got me thinking and I scoured my
archives for photographs of the church in question, St Barnabas in
Peasmore. It was amongst the first
churches I photographed and the pictures below were taken between 2 and 3 years
ago.
Well until next time take care.
