What a day, this tired but very happy chap
had an excellent day and it deserved a small post to celebrate. It started at usual at 2:30am with a cup of tea and breakfast and me arriving
at work at just before 3:30am. I busied
myself as usual waiting for the call to go shopping at 4am and as I waited new face
after new face turned up, eight in total!!!!!
That was eight new shoppers that required training on one of our busiest
days of the week. Now I like to
volunteer to train someone new as I enjoy it so much but I had another task to
carry out so could not.
I started to shop and waited for the call
from the boss that duly came. The task
in question, well today we had a visit from the head of Sainsbury’s UK
Groceries Online Service, a chap called Robbie.
Our top boss none the less and I was given the task of taking him
shopping. I have to admit it felt good
to be asked and I was determined to ensure he had the full experience. So after explaining the basics of how the
handset worked and the layout of the aisles I gave him the handset and said off
he go. He got stuck in with gusto
and quickly picked up the process and asked a lot of questions and that was
encouraging. Half way around the shop he
gave the handset back to me and watched as I shopped which did feel a little
unnerving. After the shop was finished it was time to get back to the task of shopping.
Given that there were 8 new peeps to train I volunteered to take over training one of the new shoppers until it was time for them to go home at which
time I got back to shopping normally.
That was until I got run over by a fellow shopper when their trolley ran
in to the back of my legs. Naturally I
fell to the floor in agony crying in pain, sadly the act failed to result in
any sympathy what so ever. So seeing
that my act was falling on defeat eyes I got up, brushed myself off and carried
on shopping with one eye firmly watching my back. It feels so good to work with some amazing
people and have such a laugh at work.
I also spent 10 minutes in our big freezers
today looking for products, I now know why they are call freezers, it was so
cold in there and it was easy to tell!. My goose bumps had goose
bumps and they had goose bumps. Want to have fun try searching for Chicken Kiev x4 in sub zero temperatures! The best of it was that once I left the freezers my glasses misted over and I could not see where I was going for a couple of minutes. So I took them off and still could not see where I was going!
I have to admit that still shopping at 4pm
this afternoon, 12 hours after I had started was a bit of a drain on my
reserves but I still left smiling. I was
a bit of a shopping tart today as I was putting my trolley out all over the
shop today; in fact I shopped every department today including clothing. Now you cannot say I do not get around a bit.
I am hoping with all the changes at
work I will be able to expand my role within Sainsbury’s Newbury and hopefully
work more hours and get more actively involved.
Fingers crossed!
Well I am going to close for now as it has
been a very long day and there is possibly another one on the horizon tomorrow.
Until next time take care.
