Today has been about passion, colour,
sights and sounds. It has been a day
full of emotions, passion and discovery and taking my photography to another
level.
It has been a while since I took my camera
out in earnest and with such excitement.
I went to bed last night early to get a good night sleep so when I woke
this morning I was fresh and ready to take the day on. Breakfast and a lush shower out of the way I
headed off to work to get my IPH score and some milk before heading out on a
journey of discovery.
Coming out of work I encountered the
morning rush hour with traffic solid as the eye could see in the direction I
wanted to go. So I set off in the
opposite direction with a view to taking the long way around. I might have taken an extra t30 minutes to
get to where I wanted to be but the journey took me through leafy country roads
bathed in the warmth of the morning sunshine.
Car windows down I had the warmth of the
morning sun mixed with the freshness of the breeze coupled with the sights and
sounds of the beautiful countryside.
What a way to start the day, the only thing missing was a full English
breakfast.
I finally got to my first destination of
the day, St James The Less at Winterborne, a church that forms part of my RPS
Distinction project. Today’s trip was
mainly exploratory but thanks to the morning light and the right camera gear I
soon found myself focused on a particular composition and point of view of the
church. I spent a while walking around
the church itself getting use to the light and scene when I settled on a
particular point of view and the various compositions to be had for it.
As I composed my first composition I heard
a sound to the right and in the blink of an eye two small deer appeared from
the base of a tree. Each made their way
out of the graveyard at breakneck speed and before I could train my lens on
them. They must have been there all the
time I was circling the church, it was such a shock as they bolted they came
out of now where. It is unusual to see
them out in the daytime; I usually see two on my way to work in the mornings
eating grass at the side of the road.
What made today good was that I did not
have to think too much all I had to do was follow my emotions and feelings and
everything came to me. Even processing
today’s photographs was a breeze and it felt so natural. I am beginning to feel and understand how
this new level of self confidence is going to make a difference and I have to
admit I like it. When I say make a
difference I have no idea what that means in the long run but it sure feels
good now.
Now on to the photographs. I am still finding my feet when it comes to choosing between colour and black and white so you will find some photographs below with both.
The first set are of St James The Less at Winterborne. I spent today working at the back of the church as it is composition I have been meaning to explore more and the light was just right. I explored different points of view and different compositions and the jury is still out as which will join my draft project list.
There are a few from the front of St James The Less.
The next three are from St Margaret's in Catmore. I got to the church to late in the dat for anything meaningful outside so I explored the interior for a while and came up with these images.
Once I had finished at the churches I took a drive out into the surrounding countryside before heading home and I cam across this beautiful landscape. I spent a while watching and capturing the changing light as it danced across the canvas that was the landscape.
Until the next time take care.
