The changing face of Si

What a day, what a fantastic day it has been from beginning to end.  I woke from a good nights sleep and made my way to the bathroom.  Then I woke up properly as I peered in the little mirror set in the cabinet.  The chap I saw was not me well I did not recognize him that is for sure.  It was quite a shock to the system seeing that face.  Rubbing the eyes I peered again and was glad to see it was me, well it was me but not me if you catch my drift.  I know it did not happen over night but my face has changed, I have lost so much weight since starting the new job it is silly.  I know this much as all my trousers are becoming baggier each day.  For the sake of the mirror I did not spend too long there, as I hate to make it suffer unnecessarily.  As I got dressed I pondered the new face and decided I needed confirmation but I did not have time to seek it this morning.

So breakfast, three Weetabix and a cup of tea, completed I made my snack for the morning and made my way to the car.  Still pondering my new look I glanced up to sky at the stars shining brightly.  I stopped and pondered some more, this time about the stars, little specks of light suspended in the night sky looking so beautiful.  What a way to start the day with a display like that, I feel privileged to be able to experience such wonders.  The idea that nearest star in the night sky is 4 years as light travels is mind blowing to say the least.  Hanging on to the wonderment of the night sky and my scare earlier I made my merry way to work.

The nip in the air tried to dampen the spirit but it was going to have a tough fight on its hands.  The car park was white with frost and the tires of my car created tracks as I drove to my usual parking space.  Isn’t if funny how we can take comfort in familiarity even if it is a regular car parking space.  It is not always the same, seeking familiarity in certain things like alcohol does not work to anyone’s benefit, and well it did not work me.

Whilst I waited for the door to be unlocked I readied my iPod, the latest playlist downloaded including the recent addition.  I like Sundays at work for two reasons, firstly it is a good team in and we have a laugh and secondly the store does not open until 9:30 that means I get 5 hours of my music to shop to.  I enjoyed shopping today, dancing, jigging and strutting my way up and down the aisles.  If it was not the Bee Gees it was Owl City mixed up with Scritti Politti, Pet Shop Boys, Theresa Hood, Flo Rida and Phil Collins to name a few.  I was having so much fun I almost forgot to have a break but a grumbling tum reminded me it was time to refuel.

Work done it was time to do my shopping and then home for a kip, even this chap gets tired after 7 hours of shopping and bopping.  Before I finish with the work theme for this post there is one thing I would like to share with you.  It is at the point my bosses go eeeeekkkkkk what is he going to say!  Well it is nothing I shouldn’t say put it that way.  I have mainly worked in office environments with just two jobs where a desk or computer could not to be found.  The first was during my college days when I worked at a chicken battery farm, long gone now, where I collected eggs from over 130,000 birds during the weekends.  I worked with a good bunch of people there too, we had a lot of fun, you had to it was not the most pleasant place to work that is for sure.  The second is my current place of work.  The reason I mention this is that today I noticed how hard the people around me work.  The gossiping and bitching aside they all get on with the job, a difficult job too in order to present a well turned out shop for all the happy shoppers when the store opens.  This is especially true of the night shift peeps that in my mind have one of the hardest jobs in restocking the shelves and making them presentable.  But come day or night everyone is working hard, there is no opportunity to rest or relax, the place is like a beehive buzzing continually.  I have a lot of respect for my fellow co-workers.

Well I am going to leave it there for now as this Tigger is tired and wants to conserve his energy for tomorrow.

Before I forget here is the proof that I am losing weight in my face, well I think it shows.  I would also like to apologise to anyone who had a sleepless night or nightmares after seeing the photographs below.

Until next time take care peeps.
